One that I like is Scribble. It’s a quarterly UK magazine that offers short-story writers lots of opportunities to contribute. I think they pay between £75 and £25 based on the prominence of the story. Where it stands out is that they give rejected work some feedback. It’s so frustrating not knowing why your work has not been accepted – is it something fundamentally wrong with the way you’ve written it or is it just not the right market?

I think it’s well-worth the subscription of £17 a year. For that you get critiques and free entry into their competitions as well as the mag.
