I usually enter competitions in the summer when I have more time but there are still quite a few going on all year round. Here are a couple I liked:

Hour of Writes is quite unusual in that they set you an hour to write your story and then it’s ‘marked’ by others on the site. I have only tried it once but found it really focuses your concentration. If nothing else, it will challenge your usual writing habits. No bad thing for me.

That’s a really interesting competition. Part of my problem as a writer is that I often don’t know where to start. You can write about anything and that amount of freedom is a bit overwhelming. I often write better when I have a deadline or a specific theme. It focuses my mind – a bit like what you said. To write within such a short time-frame is a very good discipline even if you don’t win anything.

If you’re looking for expository essay writing Help, plenty of resources are available online. From free eBooks and video courses to online forums and live workshops, there’s something to help everyone craft the perfect paper. Participating in competitions can also be a great way to sharpen your skills. I like to enter contests in the summer when I have more time, but several rounds run all year round. So no matter what time of year it is, there is an opportunity to improve your writing and learn a few trade tricks.
