Anansi Archive writing awards
Every quarter we like to recognise the best writing. In addition to cash prizes, we will showcase the work on our website. We also hope to invite the best for publication in our periodical anthologies.
We do not set a theme or restrict the preferred genre. All we ask is that you keep it to the word count and note the deadlines. The writing must be your own work and unpublished in full elsewhere.
The cash prizes are small at the moment but we hope to increase them in the future. We have suspended all fees for the first year.
What are we looking for?
In fiction: originality, strong characterizations, vivid scene-setting, conciseness of prose. Strong pay-off lines are not mandatory but we like a satisfying denouement. In all writing, have something to say and ask yourself this: Does it make me think? Does it make me feel?
To get an idea of the kind of work that has been successful before, check out our previous winners HERE. But don’t let that stop you from doing something completely different. We love originality!
These are the deadlines for our Spring season competitions. To enter, click on the button below and read the full rules. (The ENTER button does not commit you to entry, it just links to the full rules page).
